Post It Note Goals

I have recently been reading Jeffrey Gitomer’s Sales Bible and came across an interesting way of keeping your goals in front of you on a daily basis.  I have put this new post-it note goal technique into action.  Hopefully I will see great results!

Here is how it works.  You’ll need a pen and a pad of 3×3 Post It Notes.  I am using the yellow ones, but you can use any color that you like.  The key is in the technique and not the color.  First you take 3 of the post it notes and write down 1 main goal you have on each one.  Write them down in short words, such as “New car”, “Start Business”, “Get A in Calculus”.  Now take those 3 notes you just wrote and place them on your bedroom mirror.

In step 2, you will take 3 more post it notes and write down 3 smaller goals on each one.  These can be things such as “Read book – Dale Carnegie”, “Organize desk” and “build new closet”.  Take these three notes and post them on your bathroom mirror right under your 3 “Main Goals”.

Now that these 6 post it notes are on your bathroom mirror, read them every time you enter the bathroom.  At a minimum you should be reading them every morning and every night.

Once you accomplish a goal, remove the post it note and place it on your bedroom mirror.  Replace the empty spot in the bathroom with a new goal.  Once you start to see your bedroom mirror filling up, you will become excited at the progress you are making.  This in turn should lead to you wanting to accomplish more goals, which naturally leads to quite a bit of success from your accomplishments.

Grab a pen and some post it notes and get started today!  I did and I am looking forward to filling up my bedroom mirror!
