Why are college students in debt?

As many of you know, my goal on this site is to pass along information that I have learned over the years that I feel should have been taught to me in school but wasn’t. Most of my debt was built from my second year of college to about 5 years post graduation. In college I signed up for the high interest credit cards and used them for everything. I bought books, I partied, paid for trips and for electronics. I was naive at the time and my spending was out of control.

Don't Want to Pay For College $1000 Scholarship

Thanks to the knowledge I have gained over the years my spending is now in control. I have a budget that I have created and am using the debt snowball technique to pay back my debts. I plan on writing a 7 step plan that will help others get out of debt as well. First, I would like to know a few things. Are you one of the many teens in debt, college students in debt, or are you out of college and in debt? How did you get into debt? Was it because of credit cards, student loans or something else? Many of us are in debt. Some of us choose to ignore it and continue with the same ways that got us into it and some are trying to get out, but are just unsure how. Check back soon for my guide on the steps that have helped me get back on track. In the mean time please let me know the main reasons you find yourself in debt today.
