Memory Improvement Techniques - The Class That Wasn’t Offered

Remember to train your memory! If there is one thing I wish I could go back and do prior to going through high school and college it would be to train my memory. I was always under the assumption that either you were born with a great memory or you were not. As time has gone on, I have learned that this is not the case at all. Unfortunately, I missed out on using the techniques I know now. I have had to waste time relearning things that I would have been able to remember the first time had I known my new found memory techniques. These techniques are new to me but have been written about for years before I was even placed on this earth. I never thought to look for ways to improve my memory, but you should not make the same mistake as me.

History, Reading, Science, Geography, Math. These are all subjects that we are taught in school. If it was up to me a Memory class would be included with those heavy hitting subjects! We spend a majority of our youth learning new subjects and then being tested on what we recall. Some people spend hours studying to get good grades. Others don’t spend much time at all and do well. Some do poorly no matter how much time they spend studying. There are memory techniques that will help anyone improve their memory. When applied these tips will help you memorize facts and information and be able to recall it with such ease, it may shock you at first. Now it does take some time and practice, but by mastering your memory all other subjects thrown at you will be much easier to grasp, learn and most importantly recall at a later time.

I am by no means an expert in memory, but there are experts in the field such as Harry Lorayne. I have read two of his books and highly recommend them for anyone looking to improve their grades, learn a new language or become better at memorizing names and numbers. These techniques have no limit to what they can be used for. Anything you want to remember can be, by appliying the information that Harry Lorayne has to offer.

I highly recommend checking your local library for The Memory Book or any other of Mr. Lorayne’s books. Spend a month reading the book and practicing the techniques. I think you will be glad you did.

If you are currently a student I recommend checking out Super Memory - Super Student which is full of techniques targeted toward students.

One Response to “Memory Improvement Techniques - The Class That Wasn’t Offered”

  1. Amen. I teach college students, and poor memory is common to most. I also run outreach programs to middle schools, and poor memory is common there too. Why don’t teachers and professors teach memory skills? I suspect it is because nobody taught them such skills.

Therefore my mission in life is to teach such skills, as I am doing in my book on what science reveals about improving memory, my blog, and my teacher workshops (see thankyoubrain website).
