Convert Celsius to Fahrenheit Fast
I’m sure you learned how to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit in a Science class at one point or another. But do you still remember the formula? If you said 9/5C + 32 = F, then congratulations. If you didn’t remeber, have no fear I’m about to show you a simple techniques that will allow you to do a rough estimate in your head.
As you can see the fraction in the above formula is equal to 1.8. To do this formula in your head let’s go ahead and round that up to 2. So now our Celsius to Fahrenheit formula would be 2C + 32 = F. So if you wanted to convert 12 degrees Celsius to Fahrenheit, you would double twelve and add thirty-two. So we would get 24 + 32 = 56 degrees Fahrenheit. The correct number for the original equation would be 53.6. As you can see we were able to get a rough estimate in a very short time. Of course this is not something you would use on a test, but if you were in a bind and needed a quick estimate, or wanted to do a quick check of an answer you gave on a test, this would be a great way to get a ballpark figure.
I love these little math tricks that you can do in your head and wish I knew more about them when I was in school. It’s pretty cool to figure out a math problem in your head faster than your friends can type it into a calculator.
