College Rejection Letter

I was reading an article in the WSJ and saw that this year’s high school graduating class, applied to more colleges than ever before.  You know what more applicants means right?  More school rejection letters.  It seems that the new fad is creating a “wall of shame” to display your college rejection letters.  Times sure [...]

I have written about Top Ramen in the past, but it looks like the downturn in the economy has created a demand for the dorm favorite!

AceReader Speed Reading Software Review

One of the most annoying parts of studying in school was the fact that it seemed like I had to constantly reread the material I was studying.  I would read a couple of pages and have no idea what I just read.  I would then have to go back and read the material I just [...]

How the College Financial Aid Process Works

How the College Financial Aid Process Works

Although it may look like you can’t afford to go to college, there may be hope. Look into financial aid. Get your hands on the FAFSA and have your parents fill it out. There is always a way to get things done, some just take a little more effort than others.

School Dream

School Dream

The professor walks through the classroom door, walks to the front of the class and asks everyone to take out their blue books. I look to both sides of me and watch as everyone puts their books under their desks and pulls out their blue books for the test. I lean to the [...]

Should I Live in the Dorms?

When I first started looking at colleges I wanted to attend after high school there was one local and one school about 400 miles away from where I lived. After visiting the distant school it became fairly obvious that it was a commuter school and if I was going to be living on campus, [...]

Certified Traffic School Online

Recently I was pulled over on the way to work and given a citation for “following too close”. If you were able to see the snail pace the freeway was moving at when I received this ticket, it is almost comical. I would have loved to fight the ticket, but with the time [...]

Don’t Let the Role of Media In Politics Affect You

With 6 days till the election I wanted to write a quick post encouraging all my readers to get out and vote! I would never try to force my political views on you and tell you what or who I think you should vote for. There are plenty of other sites and television [...]

Fear of Public Speaking, Please Help!

As I was watching Michelle Obama speak at the Democratic Convention tonight, it reminded me of how bad I am at public speaking. How do people like Michelle Obama get up there with such poise and such calmness and pull off a speech in front of such a huge audience? I get nervous [...]

Reading at the Bookstore

Lately it seems like I have this unquenchable thirst for knowledge. It’s amazing how it seems like I don’t have enough time to read everything I want to read. When I was in school, you almost had to tie me down to read a book. I was one of those students who [...]

Learn to Master the College Experience

I recall going to an orientation prior to starting my college experience and the President of the school said something that has stuck with me ever since. He said “If the only things you learn in college are learned in the classroom, you have missed out.” I didn’t quite realize how true that was at the time, but as I look back I wish I would have taken that advice to heart.

Memory Improvement Techniques – The Class That Wasn’t Offered

Remember to train your memory. If there is one thing I wish I could go back and do prior to going through high school and college it would be to train my memory. I was always under the assumption that either you were born with a great memory or you were not. As time has gone on, I have learned that this is not the case at all. Unfortunately, I missed out on using the techniques I know now. I have had to waste time relearning things that I would have been able to remember the first time had I known my new found memory techniques.
